Hotel Review: Conrad Centennial Singapore

After arriving in Singapore on the world’s longest flight, we had a 4 night reservation at the award winning Conrad Centennial Singapore. I had a reservation booked a couple weeks before the trip, but when Hilton ran a 30% off sale for that part of the world about a week out, I was able to cancel the original reservation, and rebook it for about $300 less.

We chose the Conrad Centennial for its location, just a short walk to all of Marina Bay’s iconic landmarks, and the Promenade MRT Station right across the street.

Arrival:

We arrived in Singapore about 5:15pm local time, and took the Changi Airport City Shuttle from the airport to the hotel, which took us about 30 minutes with a couple of additional stops. The cost was $9 SGD each, which was less than $7 USD.

The Conrad Centennial Singapore is a leading business and leisure hotel, located at 2 Temasek Blvd., and features 487 guest rooms, 25 suites, and 101 connecting rooms. Walking into the lobby you immediately get a feeling of luxury, with very high ceilings, huge windows, and a curved staircase as the centerpiece.

At check in we were assigned Room 2615, which was a nice upgrade to a Executive Twin Room, due to my Hilton Honors Diamond status. We were also informed that we were granted a 4pm checkout for our departure day, since our flight back to Newark was at midnight.

The room was nice sized, and had an incredible view of the Fountain of Wealth below, and across the water to the Singapore Sports Hub. A small box of chocolates and a dish of fresh fruit were left for us on the table.

My friend Monica really loved the Conrad Centennial stuffed teddy bear that was left on the bed for her.

The Room:

The Executive Twin room featured a small chaise lounge, a table with two chairs, and a 46” TV mounted to the wall. Next to each bed were light controls and universal power outlets with USB ports, and the console by the bed closest to the window had the controls for the very cool window shade. If you are like me, and like a room to be pitch dark at night, you will appreciate the electric window shade that really did the trick.

A highlight of the room was definitely the view, which jumps right out at you as you enter the room.

The bathroom was to the right as you enter the room, and was beautifully appointed with marble everywhere. It featured a large bathtub, and my favorite feature, a big shower with a rain water shower head. The bathroom contained Shanghai Tang bath gels and soaps and a drawer stocked with other essentials like a shaving kit, a toothbrush kit, and a comb. Everything you may need should be right there for you, but you can contact the Conrad Concierge if you are missing anything.

After spending 18+ hours on a plane, I was really looking forward to getting some sleep, and the bed did not disappoint. I had read that the Conrad Centennial allows you to choose from several different pillows, but the ones provided were extremely comfortable, so I had no complaints.

My Hilton Honors Diamond status also gave us complimentary access to the Executive Lounge on the 31st floor, and let me just tell you, that is an amazing benefit. We were able to take full advantage as we enjoyed breakfast each morning of our stay, and smaller afternoon and evening spreads, as well.

The service and the food were amazing in the lounge, even better than I expected, and the views of the city were just spectacular. Not sure if we were just in the lounge at the right times, but we were able to find a table by a window almost every time. I’ve heard it can get very crowded, but that was not our experience at all.

As I mentioned earlier, the reason we chose the Conrad Centennial was its close proximity to many of the famous attractions that we had heard so much about. We walked to the Gardens by the Bay and Marina Bay Sands area several times, and took the nearby MRT from the Promenade Station to other parts of the city that were too far to walk to.

Just a short walk from the Conrad!

Final Thoughts:

We had a great first visit to Singapore, and the Conrad Centennial Singapore was a very big reason why. We had a flawless stay! The room was quite comfortable, the shower was amazing, the staff were always friendly, and the Executive Lounge saved us a ton of money on food and drinks. There may be cheaper hotels in Singapore, but if you are looking for affordable luxury, do yourself a favor and look into the Conrad Centennial Singapore!
